This is benefit Fine-One-One. What is the nature of your charm emergency?

(Mumbling) Uh…

Merhaba? Miss, you’re gonna have to speak up.

(Whispering) I can’t. My man is sound asleep in the other room, and I don’t want to wake him.

Okay…what is the emergency?

Well, I’m kinda sorta panicking because it’s the morning after our first sleepover, and I forgot my makeup bag.

Gerçekten?

Yeah, he hasn’t seen me without my war paint on yet, and I’d like to maintain the illusion that I just wake up with great hair and makeup, ya know?

Ohmigosh! I think I’m hyperventilating!!

Alright, first of all, I need you to remain calm. Bunu benim için yapabilir misin?

Evet tamam. Bence de.

İyi. now I’m going to dispatch our emergency Glam Squad to your location and a stick of Benefit’s new Fine-One-One.

Foxy!
Ooh, what’s that?! I’ve never heard of it before.

It’s a new brightening cheek and lip stick — a trio of creams ideal for circumstances like these. They can be used separately, or together, whenever you need a sheer flush in a flash.

Bunu nasıl kullanabilirim? What do I do when it arrives?

First, remove the cap, and twist the dial at the bottom. The stick, which has a shimmery pink champagne color, a matter watermelon and a matte coral, pops up like a tube of deodorant.

Swipe it directly on your cheeks…

…and then your lips.

Resist the temptation to bite the stick…even though it looks a little like a Creamsicle.
For a sheer, pinkish coral flush that says, “This is how I look when I wake up, baby!” blend out the edges with your fingers.

Allah! That’s exactly what I need! Um…how much will this cost me? ‘Cause I’m saving for a new pair of Choos.

The fee for this service is $30. That gets you one 0.28-ounce stick. shall I send one over?

Evet lütfen. and if it’s not too much trouble, could you also ask the squad to bring some coffee and doughnuts?

I’m sorry, miss. That’s not a service we provide.

I understand… just thought I’d ask.

Swatches from the left: fine One One directly applied to skin from the stick (see the stripes?); all the colors mixed together; all the colors mixed together and then buffed out with a blush brush

Çok tatlı! and what a neat idea with the stick. Seriously, benefit has a knack for fun packaging.

I like it better on bare skin. fine One One seems to look smoother and much more pigmented on my combination dry/oily cheeks when I wear it by itself. When I try to layer it on top of foundation and/or powder, it kinda looks patchy…

My lips aren’t crazy about it. I find it a little drying on my lips, and it highlights each and every flake if I over-apply at all.

Prepare to reapply. good thing it’s so portable! — because on my cheeks, it lasts from 4-5 hours when I wear it on top of foundation and/or powder; 3-4 hours on bare skin.

Like a much more expensive version of the MAC’s casual Colours lip and cheek creams. The two feel a lot alike to me, but Benefit’s version costs considerably more. You get 0.43 ounces of product for $20 with a casual Colour and 0.28 ounces of product for $30 with fine One One.

Coming to benefit stores and counters this December.

Probably better for lovelies of light and medium skin tones. Yes, darker damsels can probably rock it, too, but they might need to wear several layers (I use two).

With fine One One, Benefit’s got a nifty idea with great packaging on its hands, especially if 1) your skin’s in great shape and you typically skip foundation and powder, and 2) you don’t mind having to reapply throughout the day.

Too bad it’s not a bit much more flexible…

Trying something new

I wasn’t very good about eating well last week. I was just so exhausted at the end of the days that I didn’t want to cook; I resorted to a stable diet of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…

I didn’t want a repeat this week, so yesterday I prepped a whole bunch of food.

I made a pot of butternut soup, a few salads, shrimp and veggie pitas, and prepped components for a couple of dinners with shrimp and fish.

Gotta say, I’m kinda stoked! It took about three hours yesterday because I’m not a very organized cook, but I’m essentially done for the week.

P.S. thinking of you men tonight on the east Coast… I wish there was something I could do, something to make it stop. The storm made landfall a few hours ago in new jersey and new York, and millions of people are already without power.

Please just be careful, and stay safe. I’ll see you very soon.
